An open-world survival action game from Sony's Bend studio.

Days Gone 2 is, at least for the time, dead and gone. As I'm sure you've heard by now, reports surfaced earlier this year that claimed Sony rejected SIE Bend's original pitch for the open-world zombie sequel back in 2019, not that long after the original game launched on PlayStation 4.

Middling reviews and sales that weren't anything to write home about seem to have been the two factors being Sony's decision. As a result, Bend has been moved onto a new, currently unannounced IP instead of a follow-up.

Meanwhile, Days Gone is headed to PC with a ton of new upgrades and features. Check it out in action below.

Despite the fact that Sony has slammed the door shut on Days Gone 2, it hasn't stopped scores of fans from calling on the company to change its mind and let Bend make the sequel they've been waiting for. We live in a post-Snyder Cut world, after all. Anything is possible now.

A change.org petition for Days Gone 2 started a little over one month ago smashed past its target goal 75,000 signatures in under a week. In two more weeks, it had 82,000 signatures and a renewed goal of 125,000. It now stands at 107,000 signatures and a goal of 150,000.

"There's millions of people who want Sony PlayStation to approve Days Gone 2," writes petition creator Kanhai Raval. "And I want all the fans to sign this petition. They can't just pull the plug on such a amazing game that ended with a cliff hanger."

Will anything come of this petition? I honestly have no idea. I do remember thinking the Zack Snyder Justice League fans were wasting their time though, so what the hell do I know? And if nothing else, the team at Bend who put so much love and effort into Days Gone get to keep hearing about this petition and are reminded just how many people really, truly cared about this world they built. Even if the petition doesn't result in a sequel, that's achievement enough.
