Evolutionary stones are an important part of your adventure as a Pokemon trainer. These are stones that are used to help your Pokemon evolve into more powerful Pokemon. The core games in these series have a multitude of evolutionary stones that evolve multiple Pokemon.
These stones include ones like the Moon Stone, the Fire Stone, and the Thunder Stone. One of these stones that are featured in Pokemon Legends: Arceus is the Ice Stone. The game's description of this stone is "a peculiar stone that can make certain species of Pokemon evolve. It has a snowflake pattern in it". It's a light blue stone that is seen throughout the region.
Uses For Ice Stones
The Ice Stone has been used throughout the core games to evolve many Pokemon. In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, the Ice Stone has two different uses. It can be used to evolve an Eevee into one of its many evolutions, Glaceon. The other usage is to evolve an Alolan Vulpix into an Alolan Ninetails. These are the only two Pokemon who use the Ice Stone to evolve.
Where to Find Ice Stones
Throughout the game, Ice Stones can be difficult to find. They are only available from the Outpost Trader in Jubilife Village. This is the trader that only sells items for Merit Points. The Ice Stones can be bought there for 1,000 Merit Points. Merit Points are gained when you return the Lost Satchels of other players. These are dropped when a player is knocked out while exploring the world.
When playing online, your map will show icons depicting where other players' Lost Satchels are. If you cannot play online, the game will automatically show the Lost Satchels of NPCs. Depending on the size of the Lost Satchels and the items in them, you will gain Merit Points. Once you amass enough Merit Points, you can spend them at the Outpost Trader for the Ice Stone.
While the Ice Stone doesn't have many uses, it is the only way to evolve an Alolan Vulpix into an Alolan Ninetails in the entire game. This makes it an invaluable part of any player's playthrough.
